Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Book bloggers create their own lists based on the chosen topics and post links to our lists. It’s a way of all sharing our thoughts and our love of books. And who doesn’t love lists??
So this week’s challenge was to list the top ten popular authors whose work I have not read. It was easier than I thought it was going to be, there are just so many authors and so many books out there, even if I wanted to read them all I never could!
While these popular authors have immensely popular series, the books are really long and I haven’t been ready to make the commitment!
- George R.R. Martin and his Song of Ice and Fire series.
- Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander series.
- Ken Follett and his Century trilogy
These mystery authors are popular at my library, but as much as I love a good mystery, these are authors I haven’t tackled yet!
- Harlan Coben and his Mickey Bolitar series
- Jeffrey Deaver and his Lincoln Rhyme series
Sorry, even though these authors are immensely popular, I just can’t do any more of the vampire thing right now…
- J.R. Ward and her Black Dagger Brotherhood series
- Sherrilyn Kenyon and her Dark Hunter series
And a couple of YA authors that are popular, and that I may get to eventually, but that I just haven’t had an opportunity to read yet…
- Laini Taylor and her Daughter of Smoke & Bones series
- Sarah Dessen
And even though she has written all kinds of books for quite a few years now, I just have never read anything by her.
- Sophie Kinsella
I like Sophie Kinsella, but since reading more widely I realised she’s not as great as I initially thought. There are just so many great authors out there!

Gabaldon is on my list too. It’s a shame because everyone tells me I would fall in love with her work, but who has time to tackle books that size?

I tried my first Jeffrey Deaver 2 years ago, The Bone Collector was good and a new one was just ok. Harlan C is on my list also. I stuck to all suspense authors I want to read some day.

I’ve read the first book in the Outlander series and love it. I think I haven’t read the other books just because they are bigger and there are quite a few. I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and I’m not sure I will be reading the sequel. Great list!

Sophie Kinsella’s books are cute. I’d recommend “The Undomestic Godess” and “Twenties Girl” over her Shopaholic novels. All of the series you mentioned at the top of your list are on my TBR list. I have read “Outlander” and loved it, but I need to get caught up on the rest of the series.
